"Always Unique"

by Sam Heilner

Cary Grant, giving a rare interview to the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, explained why he dislikes giving interviews: At age 78, he still suffers from shyness. He said: "Whether it's the fear of not being effective or of exposing my lack of intelligence, I don't know."

And who is Grant's show-biz idol? A suave, romantic leading man? Not at all. George Burns is his role model, Grant says, because of his "timing, ease and presence. He's always been unique."
